Duties
Incumbent assists the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS) in the oversight and execution of the Cyber, Information Technology, and Communications portfolio. This role is responsible for developing and implementing plans, policies, and programs to ensure warfighter readiness and the strategic alignment of all initiatives with DoW guidance. The incumbent represents the DCS in daily engagements with senior civilian and military officials, including staffs of the White House, Congress, and Combatant Commands, to articulate and advance departmental priorities.
Furthermore, the position provides direct support to the DCS on various initiatives, overseeing the directorate's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer (CDAO) to execute research, development, and strategic communications strategies. A key responsibility is to develop analytic studies and mission analyses to assess future Air Force requirements for communications, cyber systems, and cybersecurity. The incumbent integrates diverse programmatic requirements and resolves critical policy challenges to execute strategic initiatives in concert with Air Force stakeholders.
Ultimately, this position is crucial for building and maintaining effective working relationships with Congress, federal agencies, and private sector communities to address strategic challenges and fiscal constraints.
