Building Maintenance Technician – Painter (260000DT)
Apply coats of paint, varnish, stains, wallpaper, enamels, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior surfaces. Execute a wide variety of surface applications and meet professional standards, including signage. Perform small wall repairs, surface preparation, and minor maintenance as needed to support ongoing facility operations. Assist with low‑level installations, furniture assembly, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of building systems. Provide general labor support to all trades, procure and pick up materials, and respond to low‑level requests in order of priority.
Respond to hospital emergencies such as leaks, fire alarms, odors, snow removal, etc., ensuring smooth transition of responsibilities to the next shift.
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Basic mechanical/plumbing and electrical training (Required)
- Ability to use PC and internet (Required)
- 5 years of painting and related experience (Required)
- 6 years experience as a full‑fledged tradesman (Required)
- 1 year related and progressive experience (Required)
- 1 year general maintenance, carpentry, mechanical/plumbing, and electrical experience (Required)
- Valid driver’s license (Required)
- Familiarity with automated work order systems
- Willingness to learn new software or programs related to the field
- Carpentry, mechanical/plumbing, and electrical experience
- Take the initiative to identify and report deficiencies in the physical plant by submitting work orders through the system.
- Diagnose and resolve trouble tickets/work orders thoroughly until completed.
- Routinely follow up with the manager to communicate or request assistance as necessary.
- Follow up with the requester after completion to ensure the problem has been corrected.
- Routinely utilize all safety measures related to work orders and specific tasks.
- Follow up with the requester regarding work orders in a timely manner.
- Communicate steps for completion of work orders and provide any follow‑up information.
- Represent the engineering staff in a professional and helpful manner at all times.
- Compile list of materials to be ordered and submit to supervisor.
- Complete and update work orders daily for work completed each day.
- Prepare requisitions for ERP.
- Assist with project needs as assigned.
- Ability to use supply order system, work order system, and email system.
