Building Maintenance Technician - Painter

Overview

The Building Maintenance Technician (BMT) - Painter will apply coats of paint, varnish, stains, wallpaper, enamels, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior surfaces. The role includes performing small wall repairs, surface preparation, and providing general labor support to all trades. The BMT - Painter will assist with minor maintenance and service to support ongoing facility operations for the Facilities Department, handling work requests or dispatches from the control room, call center, or management in accordance with hospital standards.

The role may involve snow removal and basic maintenance in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and plastering, and requires responding to hospital emergencies as needed.

• Apply coatings (paint, varnish, stains, wallpaper, enamels, lacquer) to interior surfaces and ensure professional workmanship.
• Perform small wall repairs and proper surface preparation.
• Provide direct general labor support to all trades and assist with procurement and pickup of materials requested by trades.
• Perform low-level installations, furniture assembly, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintain general building systems and structure.
• Assist with snow removal and basic maintenance service; support repairs in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and plastering as needed.
• Respond to low-level requests in priority order and assist with routine-to-complex requests as needed.
• Ensure smooth transition of responsibilities to the next shift and respond to hospital emergencies (e.g., leaks, fire alarms, odors, snow removal).

• Minimum Education:
  
  High School Diploma or GED (Required).
• Basic level mechanical/plumbing and electrical training; ability to use a PC and have general knowledge of the internet (Required).
• Minimum
  
  Work Experience:
  
  5 years of painting and related experience (Required).
• 6 Years experience as a full-fledged tradesman; 1 year related and progressive experience; 1 year general maintenance, carpentry, mechanical/plumbing and electrical experience (Required).
• Required Skills/Knowledge:
  Familiarity with automated work order systems; ability to use the internet; willingness to learn new software or programs related to the field; carpentry, mechanical/plumbing and electrical experience.

• Valid driver’s license (Required).
