Position Summary
A Magnolia Commercial Plumber is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and installing commercial‑grade plumbing systems, components, and fixtures. This role requires traveling to various commercial job sites to perform repairs, routine maintenance, and, in some cases, small‑scale construction, retrofitting, or tenant improvement projects in commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities, such as office buildings, retail shops, restaurants, and medical centers. This position often deals with complex leak searches and temperature, troubleshooting sensor‑operated fixtures, replacement of grease traps and troubleshooting/repair/replacement of large commercial water heaters.
Key Responsibilities- Repairs and Maintenance:
Troubleshoot and fix broken pipes, leaks, clogged drains, and low water pressure issues. Perform preventive maintenance on water heaters, boilers, and fixtures. - Installation and Retrofitting:
Install, repair, and maintain commercial toilets, sinks, faucets, and specialized equipment such as water filtration systems or grease traps. - System Upgrades:
Perform small‑scale, or “light” commercial construction work, such as adding new sinks, upgrading restrooms, or extending piping. - Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all work adheres to local plumbing codes, regulations, and safety standards. - Client Interaction:
Diagnose problems for clients, explain options for repairs, and provide cost estimates/invoices for work. - Logistics and Reporting:
Manage inventory in service vehicles, maintain accurate records of parts, and complete documentation for completed jobs. - Emergency Services:
Participate in on‑call rotations to handle urgent commercial plumbing failures. - Work both independently and as part of a team. Technician’s days will range from working alongside, working with an apprentice who you are responsible for training, or part of a team with other mechanics.
Skills and Qualifications
- Licensure:
Valid journeyman or master plumbing and gas license. Current backflow certification. - Experience:
5+ years experience in commercial or industrial plumbing. - Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of pipe fitting, water distribution, drain‑waste‑vent (DWV) systems, and familiarity with materials like copper, PVC, and cast iron. - Tools:
Proficiency in using specialized tools such as pipe cutters, threaders, pro‑press machines, and soldering torches. - Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, stand for long periods, and sometimes work from elevated work areas. - Communication:
Excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with clients and other trades. - Driving:
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
