SUMMARY:
The Journeyman HVAC mechanic is responsible for carrying out all the duties and responsibilities of an HVAC mechanic at the Journeyman level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, maintain, repair, adjust and clean all HVAC and associated equipment and systems.
- Use a wide range of test equipment such as volt‑meters, ammeters, amprobes, psychrometers, capacitor analyzers, temperature testers, leak detectors, micrometers, CO2 testers, vacuum gauges, meggers and possess outstanding eye‑hand coordination.
- Inspect completed work for conformance to standards.
- Possess excellent organizational and troubleshooting skills.
- Keep daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults with HVAC systems.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSURE:
- Minimum of six (6) years' experience working in the Commercial Facilities / Operation and Maintenance arena.
- Journeyman HVAC License required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. Active Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred.
- Maximo CMMS experience a plus, but not required.
- Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, etc.) a plus but not required.
- Thorough knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of all HVAC systems and equipment in the building.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- General supervision / Exercise independent judgment in accordance with well‑established policies, procedures, and techniques.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is consistent with work performed in the building trades.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Required to maneuver around the building site, see, hear, and verbally communicate with co‑workers and clients. Must maintain physical conditioning adequate for sitting, walking or standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching, squatting, stretching, bending for prolonged periods of time; lift and carry up to as much as 60 pounds. Must have near visual acuity to review written documentation; hear and understand speech with background noise.
Must climb ladders and scaffolding, do a lot of walking, use any kind of hand tool, work in hazardous positions, carry heavy tools.
TRAVEL: None.
WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE:
DoD Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship required.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references, and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States required.
