Position: Mid-Engineering Technician - (90% Travel) with Security Clearance
Position Description & Qualifications As the Mid-Engineering Technician, you will work on a team performing IT systems modernization at DoD facilities Worldwide. This work involves installing server equipment racks, video surveillance (ip based) cameras, desktop computing systems and peripherals, cabling, and rack-mounted equipment at U.S. Army Installations Worldwide. As the Engineer Technician, you will perform standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations.

You will follow standard work methods on recurring assignments, but you will receive explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments. Your technical adequacy of routine work will be reviewed on completion and non-routine work may be reviewed in progress. Serco supports the US Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) as a Prime contractor on Navy facilities for their Electronic Security Systems (ESS) contract maintaining their Munition Centers (NMC) as well as upgrading and maintaining their Emergency Operations Centers (EOC) Audio / Video Systems.

Our team upgrades, maintains and manages installations for Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Access Control Systems (ACS), Closed Circuit Television Systems (CCTV) and video Briefing Display Systems (BDS). You will be part of a team of programmers, technicians and Installers that work closely with the customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality systems. The team has been recognized by the Naval Information Warfare Center and the industry for their outstanding contributions to the contract and program.

This position will allow you to live anywhere in the United States and travel the world This position requires flexible working hours; you must be willing to work more than 40 hours a week and be able to work after normal duty hours depending on customer requirements Contingent upon your ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance In this role you will:
* Follow specific instructions, assemble, or construct simple or standard equipment or parts, service or repair simple instruments or equipment.
* Conduct a variety of tests using established methods, adjusting, and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors.
* Gather and maintain specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc., performing computations, plotting data, and verifying that test data meets acceptance criteria.
* Unpack and re-pack equipment for test and shipment to customer facilities.
* Extract engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources, processing the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry, and presenting the data in prescribed form.
* Perform the installation of CAT 6 cabling.
* Terminate CAT 6 using T568B color code standard.
* Other duties may be assigned. To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
* U.S Citizenship is required
* Must be able to obtain a CAC (Common Access Card)
* Must be able to obtain access to all military installations
* Must be willing to travel up to 90% of the time, up to 4 months at a time
* Must be able to travel internationally
* Must be able to obtain a valid U.S Passport within 30 days of employment
* Must possess a valid driver's license
* A High School Diploma/GED
* Minimum 2 years of related experience
* To be able to work independently, meet schedule, and duty requirements
* To be organized, with the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks
* To be able to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
* To be able to work in areas with drafts, noise, and temperature variation
* To be able to work during inclement weather or other adverse conditions
* To be able to work in high heat spaces, climb dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking
* To be able to perform work on ladders and lifts
* To be able to lift up to 50lbs without assistance with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40lbs for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position
* To be familiar with typical hand tools
* Able to work with power tools; drill, Sawzall, Rotozip saw, Dremel, etc. Additional desired experienced and skills:
* Active DoD Secret security clearance
* A current US passport
* Fast learner
* General or advanced troubleshooting experience
* Experience using Digital Multi-meter and power meters
* General Knowledge to mount hardware on varying surfaces.
* Familiar with Wire, Cable termination
* Familiar with RJ45 connectors and terminations
* General knowledge of Microsoft software (Excel, Word, outlook)
* General Knowledge of Basic Intrusion detection systems, Access Control CCTV and Audio Video Installation
* Experience in Cable installation, testing and termination (Cat 5/6, Multi conductor)
