New Construction Plumbing Technician at Joseph J Magnolia Washington DC

Joseph J. Magnolia, also known as ‘JJM’, is currently looking for experienced plumbers for our New Construction Team
. This role requires skilled work in the installation, modification, and/or repair of plumbing and related systems, equipment, and fixtures in commercial buildings plumbing systems and equipment. The candidate must be able to communicate efficiently with customers and coordinators, and efficiently manage a company email.

• Plans and lays out work, and engages in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water, air, gas, sewer, steam, and hot water heating and distribution systems; supervises and inspects the installation and repair of plumbing pipes, sinks, traps, valves, faucets, vents, pumps, and similar equipment, fixtures, and apparatus.
• Responsible for the installation record keeping so work meets or exceeds state codes.
• Establishes safety and work performance standards for subordinates.
• Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and valves, according to job specifications.
• Cuts pipe using a pipe cutter, pipe saw, power tools (band saw), and pipe cutting machine.
• Threads pipe using a threading machine.
• Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded, wrapped, soldering, brazen, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools.
• Secures pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools.
• Has knowledge in safe and professional testing of piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks.
• Connects pipe pieces and seals joints, using cement, glue, or mechanical fasteners.
• Checks slopes and alignment for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers and transits.
• Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools.
• Grades and levels trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools.
• Performs miscellaneous duties or responsibilities as assigned.

• 6 years experience in new construction plumbing
• Extensive knowledge in commercial plumbing systems and equipment
• Detailed resume with references within the industry
• Must be computer literate and tech savvy
• Comfortable working outdoors on uneven surfaces.
