We love our jobs. Do you? This position is located in the esteemed Architect of the Capitol, Library Building and Grounds, Maintenance Branch, Plumbing Section. As a Pipefitter
, you will troubleshoot, repair, and install pipe fitting system components in assigned Capitol Complex work sites that include monumental historic buildings with a complex infrastructure.
The position is considered essential and is required to report during emergency closures.
You must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of the job announcement.
You must meet the following SCREEN-OUT(S) required for this position:For WG-10
Ability to perform journey level pipe fitting work without more than normal supervision. (Screen-out Factor) including:
- Inspecting and troubleshooting piping systems, equipment, and fixtures;
- Using plumbing and pipe fitting trade tools and equipment such as grinders, flanges, hand and power pipe threaders, pipe cutters, and pipe wrenches;
- Installing, modifying, and repairing water heaters, hot water tanks, pumps, kitchen equipment, and sprinkler systems;
and - Testing piping systems and related equipment to ensure proper circulation, flow, pressure, and leak-free joints.
Ability to perform expert level pipe fitting work without more than normal supervision. (Screen-out Factor) including:
- Planning and laying out the installation, modification, and repair of new and existing piping systems and equipment;
- Using the Building Automation System (BAS) to troubleshoot systems, pumps, and motors, verify operating conditions, and making necessary adjustments to support building operations;
and - Attaching pipe sections by screwing, bolting, brazing, welding, gluing, fusing, or soldering.
