Case Manager Supervisor - Short Term Family Housing

Hillcrest Children & Family Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to the provision of comprehensive, evidence-based mental health services in Washington, DC. We are committed to fostering community awareness, eliminating systemic barriers, and delivering compassionate, high-quality care to individuals navigating housing challenges.

The Case Manager Supervisor serves as the primary point of contact for families and carries responsibility for housing stabilization, service coordination, and documentation. Each Case Manager supports approximately 7–8 families, many of whom face multiple barriers including housing instability, behavioral health needs, domestic violence histories, and limited income. Staff must develop individualized plans, coordinate benefits and services, support housing placement, and respond to crises.

The Case Management Supervisor also provides coaching, oversight, and quality control to ensure consistency and compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise Case Managers, providing weekly one-on-one meetings to review client progress and troubleshoot difficult cases
  • Provides coaching, oversight, and quality control to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Staff must develop individualized plans, coordinate benefits and services, support housing placement, and respond to crises
  • Ensure all staff are consistently applying Housing First, Harm Reduction, and Trauma-Informed Care principles in their daily interactions and service planning
  • Audit client files and progress notes
  • Promote staff wellness and professional development
  • Prepare monthly or quarterly performance reports
  • Maintain strong relationships with housing authorities, and community partners
  • Maintain program integrity by auditing client files and progress notes, ensuring all documentation meets quality control standards, data accuracy requirements, and grant compliance
  • Rapid problem-solving in crisis situations
  • Work outside of standard business hours, through on-call rotation, to assist or manage participant crisis
  • Manage high-stress caseloads and maintain continuity of care for families during critical stabilization periods.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience in behavioral health, housing, or human services
  • Expertise in housing systems, family homelessness, trauma informed supervision, and government contract management.
  • Reliable transportation for community-based visits is required
  • A sound understanding of mental health, housing requirements, and behavioral health programs
  • Ability to work directly with people in a service-oriented field is beneficial.
  • Consumer advocacy or self-help group preferred.
  • Personal traits that include patience, tolerance, caring, maturity, and understanding.
  • Capable of ensuring program stability, regulatory compliance, and strong outcomes in a highly demanding environment.
  • Ability to set appropriate boundaries for best practice.
  • Demonstrates proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
