Senior Software Engineer – Full Stack Engineer (Contract)

AIS is seeking a Full Stack Engineer for an AI Engineering contract supporting a federal customer in a hybrid role in the DC/Maryland/Virginia (DMV) area.

• Invest in core knowledge and skills: work across multiple languages and platforms, design and implement architectural decisions, use design patterns, cloud-native services, IAAS/PAAS/SAAS basics, and secure coding practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
• Handle complex tasks under limited guidance, integrate and troubleshoot distributed or cloud services, and optimize performance and scalability.
• Set a high bar for code quality, multitask effectively, own and correct errors quickly, and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead code reviews, mentor teammates, and translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• Work directly with clients without oversight, write technical RFP content when needed, nurture client relationships, and manage routine client concerns.
• Develop and deploy software into production in government environments.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or closely related degree).
• At least 3 years of experience in Full Stack Software Engineering.
• Experience with Python, React, Java script, and Postgres.
• Strong Python and React background.
• Proven track record of developing and deploying software into production in government environments.
• Active Secret Clearance.

• A related certification.

Targeted base salary range: $100,000–$150,000 per year.
