Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years with BS/BA;
Minimum of 3 years with MS/MA - 9 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
- Experience with software development methodologies and life cycles; specifications and testing
- Experience developing test scripts using Python, Perl, Power Shell, Java, C, etc.
- Experience with Red Hat Linux
- Experience working in a Cloud Environment using containerization
- Experience working in an Agile development environment
- Extensive experience with Windows OS and Microsoft Office products
- Experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Xray, Selenium, Cucumber, etc.)
- Familiar with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira, Asset Manager, Confluence, Risk Register, Crucible, Bitbucket, Git, etc.
- Ability to obtain and hold a Public Trust clearance – US Citizenship required

- Experience working within a distributed virtual team environment, with proficiency in remote collaboration tools and practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a willingness to foster strong relationships with coworkers and vendors.

The Office of Space Weather Observations (SWO) under NESDIS is responsible for advancing space weather observational capabilities to meet NOAA programmatic needs. NOAA’s Space Weather Next (SWX) program maintains and extends space weather observations from various venues to provide comprehensive knowledge of the Sun and the near‑Earth space environment needed to protect our technological infrastructure.
The Space Weather Ground Services (SWGS) is responsible for comprehensive ground services for all SWX projects, ensuring successful implementation and operation of observing assets and ensuring the continuity of space weather measurements made by SWFO‑L1 and the GOES‑R series satellites.
The SWGS Mission Operations Services (MOS) program must provide a full‑mission satellite command and control solution to support the L1 Series with two new independently launched observatories.
Responsibilities:- Perform system level software integration and test (I&T) activities for Satellite Ground Station Command and Control applications ensuring system compatibility to meet program technical, schedule, and cost objectives. This includes the test and integration of COTS‑based systems and custom software, from the system design phase through development, documentation, installation, and commissioning of the completed system.
- Generate test plans and procedures for the verification and validation (V&V) of software components to ensure requirement traceability and test cases to allow requirement V&V.
- Support test readiness reviews, formal system verification of the system requirements and final test reports.
- Organize, execute, and report on software testing.
- Recognize and adopt best practices in documentation, testing, and efficient use of resources.
- Utilize Red Hat Enterprise Linux to resolve configuration issues and integrate Red Hat Linux systems with other existing environments.
- Create and modify bash scripts.
- Write and edit scripts in Python, Perl, Power Shell, Java, C, etc.
- Utilize JIRA in an Agile development environment.
- Support development and maintenance of automated testing.
