Staff Engineer - Grow Talent Experience

Guild is hiring a Staff Engineer to join our Grow Talent Experience team, focused on building guided core member experiences which are personalized, intuitive, and delightful. In this role, you will design and deliver robust software solutions that serve the evolving needs of members pursuing learning and career growth opportunities.

We are looking for a highly experienced Staff Engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments and is comfortable navigating ambiguity. You bring deep front-end expertise — particularly in React and Type Script — and know how to craft experiences that are not just functional, but genuinely exceptional. You'll leverage your full-stack development experience and understanding of enterprise SaaS to bring new product capabilities to life quickly and iterate to satisfy market demand.

Just as importantly, you'll drive the technical direction of the team — mentoring engineers, aligning cross-functional partners, and pushing initiatives forward through both your technical contributions and your leadership presence.

As a Staff Engineer, you will:

  • Lead front-end architecture and development — owning the design and implementation of user interfaces that are performant, accessible, and scalable. Set the standard for front-end quality, patterns, and best practices across the team.
  • Design, build, and own new services and infrastructure that support our member-facing experiences end to end.
  • Write clean, testable, and reusable code. Contribute to end-to-end development including testing, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and deployment, ensuring high availability and quality in releases.
  • Drive technical decision-making and direction — authoring design documents, architecture decision records (ADRs), and leading technical discussions that communicate trade-offs clearly and move the team forward with confidence.
  • Mentor and elevate the 4 other engineers on the team, providing hands-on guidance, code review feedback, and career development support. Help the team grow not just in output, but in capability.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment — partnering closely with product managers, designers, and operations teams to translate business requirements into engineering solutions, and serving as a technical voice in roadmap planning and prioritization.
  • Identify and champion improvements to performance, reliability, and developer velocity using operational data, user feedback, and your own engineering judgment.
  • Improve internal development processes, tools, and workflows to enhance code quality, speed of delivery, and system security.

You are a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • Deep expertise in front-end technologies, especially React and Type Script, with a strong eye for building intuitive, high-quality user experiences
  • Excellent cross-team communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of driving alignment across engineering, product, and design in a distributed environment
  • Expertise in several (or all!) of these tools and technologies:
Python, Type Script, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and GraphQL
  • Expertise building and owning multiple services and user interfaces — data modeling, unit and integration testing, application monitoring, and CI/CD
  • Expertise with a cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure, Digital Ocean), database technologies (Postgres, MySQL, No

SQL), and modern source control (Git / Git Hub)
  • Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Git Hub Copilot, or similar
  • Experience integrating LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI) and building AI-powered features, including assistants, summarization, RAG workflows, or vector search
  • Demonstrated curiosity and interest in keeping up with and experimenting with emerging technologies

We are committed to equal pay for equal work and believe in compensation transparency. All salary ranges are standardized nationwide and will not vary by region. This role offers a competitive total compensation package, including a base salary of $161, and stock options. Compensation offered will be based on a combination of factors such as experience, competencies, and internal equity.
