Job Summary
Randstad is seeking a skilled AWS Java Engineer to join a premier client in the D.C./Wilmington area for a high-impact, hybrid role focused on building, modernizing, and automating enterprise backend applications. This position sits at the intersection of robust Java engineering and cloud-native architecture, demanding a developer who can move seamlessly from core Java/Spring Boot development to AWS cloud deployments (Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB).
Operating within an Agile framework, you will support the entire software development lifecycle—from initial requirements and test‑driven automation (TDD/BDD) to final cloud operations, helping maintain foundational enterprise systems while actively scaling modern cloud services.

Responsibilities- Design, develop, and automate scalable backend applications using Java, Spring Boot, and modern AWS cloud-native technologies.
- Build and maintain data pipelines and cloud infrastructure utilizing AWS Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, Aurora, and Redshift.
- Own all phases of the software development lifecycle, translating business requirements into implementation, testing, and cloud operations.
- Support and maintain existing enterprise J2EE architectures while actively participating in their evolution toward modern cloud environments.
- Drive continuous integration and test automation pipelines using Git Hub/Git Lab, Sonar Qube, and JUnit.
- Participate actively in Agile methodologies, team sprints, and mandatory in‑person Program Increment (PI) Planning events in the D.C. or Wilmington offices.
- Strong proficiency in Java coding combined with deep experience in Spring Boot, Hibernate, and object‑oriented design patterns.
- Proven experience building applications leveraging AWS services including Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB/Aurora, and Redshift.
- Familiarity with traditional J2EE technologies (Servlets, JMS, JDBC, Web Services, MQ, and concurrent programming).
- Hands‑on experience working with Oracle/SQL, JSON, XML/XSLT, JAXB, SOAP, and RESTful APIs.
- Foundational knowledge of JavaScript frameworks and HTML, alongside excellent skills in writing unit test cases using TDD and BDD methodologies.
- Solid understanding of enterprise security principles, including Role‑Based Security (JAAS), HTTPS protocols, and encryption techniques.
