Overview
A World‑Changing Company Palantir builds the world’s leading software for data‑driven decisions and operations. By bringing the right data to the people who need it, our platforms empower our partners to develop lifesaving drugs, forecast supply chain disruptions, locate missing children, and more. The role of Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineers (FDIEs) is to build, operate, and maintain the infrastructure that powers Palantir’s platforms and production deployments.
As an FDIE intern, you’ll work alongside full‑time FDIEs to deploy and operate Palantir software across real production environments, automate manual processes, and develop novel solutions to infrastructure challenges using tools like Foundry and Apollo. Everyday looks different – you might debug a distributed systems issue, build automation to replace a manual runbook, or design infrastructure improvements that scale across multiple deployments.
You’ll be treated as a full member of the team, with real ownership over the work you take on.
- Deploy and operate Palantir software across production environments, including monitoring, alerting, configuration management, and upgrades
- Debug, improve, and optimize Palantir’s services and infrastructure with a focus on long‑term reliability and scalability
- Reduce manual operations by automating workflows, processes, and runbooks wherever possible
- Develop novel solutions in Palantir’s Foundry and Apollo platforms to solve infrastructure challenges
Impact:
We address meaningful and exciting projects that change the world for the better. Ownership:
We see projects through from beginning to end, working through any obstacles we may encounter. Trust and autonomy:
We trust each other to effectively handle time and priorities and give people the space to think for themselves.
Collaboration:
We work with people from a variety of backgrounds—including other FDIEs, product teams, and forward‑deployed software engineers. Growth:
We believe experiential learning is one of the best teachers and encourage ourselves and our peers to seek new challenges and opportunities for growth.

- Eagerness to creatively solve technical problems using cloud infrastructure, storage systems, and other infrastructure tooling
- Ability to collaborate across teams of technical and non‑technical individuals in a constantly evolving environment with dynamic objectives
- Active US Security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain a US Security clearance prior to the start of internship
- Engineering background, preferred in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or Data Science
- Strong proficiency with one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, Go, C++, Type Script/JavaScript, or similar
- Must be planning on graduating in 2028, and this should be your final internship before graduating
