Job DescriptionThis position is housed under the Application Software Development (ASD) Division of the Office of Information Systems (OIS) in direct support of the YSD Truancy Application and projects for troubleshooting, upgrades, and enhancements. The DHS ASD Division is seeking a Senior Application Developer whose primary responsibilities include design, development, delivery, and enhancement of Client‑Server/Web‑Based/Cloud‑Based/Mobile Software Applications using the Quick Base Application Platform.
The candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing business‑aligned IT services, ensuring the application platform is of high quality, defect‑free, and adheres to industry standards for development, testing, and deployment methodologies. Experience with Quick Base Development is required. Hands‑on experience with Java, XML, HTML, JavaScript, BPEL, PHP, Web Logic, .NET/ASP/Visual C#, SQL Server, or SQL/Procedural Language is favorable.
- Design, develop, and deploy applications that support users on case and program management, especially with the YSD Truancy Quick Base Application.
- Provide mentorship and technical advice to a team of Application/Reports/Query developers.
- Offer strategic advice to the lead, management, and customers of the OIS/ASD Division.
- Implement programming standards that support a secure and defect‑free application.
- Interact daily with government clients to meet technical requirements for new initiatives.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance/Quality Control teams to ensure the application remains secure and defect‑free.
- Evaluate, design, and implement accepted programming standards as they relate to the YSD Quick Base Application and infrastructure.
- Define and document processes to be used by all application developers on the team.
- Plan, research, and recommend new equipment, software tools, and related technologies.
- Use monitoring and performance analysis tools to troubleshoot and isolate application performance issues.
- Update system and process documentation, produce user guides, ER diagrams, and SOPs as needed, including Visio network design drawings.
Other duties as assigned. The candidate will become an integral part of the ASD Team, taking ownership of platform‑related problems and demonstrating initiative and critical thinking to resolve all challenges. This individual will work closely with DHS ASD and its partner agencies to ensure agency priorities are met. This position is within the DHS OIS/ASD Division.
