Position Summary
The Database Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing the data layer supporting a large-scale federal cloud platform. Working closely with application developers, database architects, and cloud engineers, this role develops high-performance database solutions, data pipelines, and data access components using AWS data services. The Database Developer ensures data integrity, security, scalability, and performance while leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.

SQL database schemas supporting enterprise application workloads. - Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, database objects, and data access components.
- Build, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines supporting application and reporting requirements.
- Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and execution-plan analysis.
- Support logical and physical data modeling activities across AWS database platforms.
- Develop database solutions using AWS services including Amazon Aurora, Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, and Amazon S3.
- Ensure database security, integrity, backup, recovery, and compliance with enterprise standards.
- Collaborate with application developers, architects, and Dev Ops engineers to implement efficient data access strategies.
- Troubleshoot production database issues and support ongoing performance improvements.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools to improve database development productivity and code quality.
- 3+ years of database development experience.
- Experience developing database solutions for enterprise applications.
- Experience working within Agile software development environments.
- SQL development.
- Database design and development.
- Data modeling fundamentals.
- Relational and/or No
SQL databases. - Database performance tuning.
- AWS database services (Aurora, RDS, DynamoDB, or similar).
- ETL/ELT development.
- Database security and data integrity.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- U.S. work authorization.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
- Amazon Redshift experience.
- Experience developing data pipelines on AWS.
- Federal government or other high-volume transaction system experience.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted database development tools.
- Experience supporting cloud-native application architectures.
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices supporting database deployments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
- AWS Certified Database – Specialty.
- AWS Certified Developer – Associate.
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
