About The Role
We are seeking a Backend Engineer II who is passionate about our mission, capable of delivering solutions across the entire tech stack, and eager to learn and implement new techniques and technologies. This role reports to an Engineering Manager within our Financial Incentives team. The position is fully remote, offering flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization dedicated to transforming healthcare affordability and quality.
Qualifications- 3+ years of industry experience developing and maintaining scalable, high-quality software applications
- Proficiency in Python programming language
- Experience building both event-driven and request-driven microservices architectures
- Strong understanding of AWS services and cloud infrastructure
- Hands‑on experience with SQL databases
- Experience deploying, supporting, and operating applications on Kubernetes
- Familiarity with Agile development practices within cross‑functional teams
- Willingness to contribute to team success through hands‑on involvement
- Experience working in a fast‑paced startup environment
- Authorization to work legally in the United States;

- Design, develop, and maintain backend services that power Garner’s core business operations
- Participate in an on‑call rotation, responding promptly to system outages and support escalations from internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create technical designs, provide work estimates, and address technical queries
- Ensure user privacy and security by adhering to best practices and compliance standards
- Design scalable solutions with a focus on long‑term sustainability while delivering features iteratively
- Ideate and develop new features, leveraging data insights to inform product enhancements
- Research and incorporate the latest tools, technologies, and industry best practices into development workflows
- Work collaboratively within our tech stack, contributing to continuous improvement and innovation
- Competitive salary range of $135,000 – $165,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications
