Job Summary:
The NC DHHS AWS/Java Developer will play a critical role in modernizing legacy applications by designing, developing, and managing cloud-native solutions on AWS. This position requires collaboration with data modernization teams to implement scalable, secure, and efficient AWS-based data platforms and Java backend systems aligned with business goals.
Responsibilities:- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and propose modernization strategies.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based cloud-native applications and backend systems.
- Utilize AWS services such as VPC, EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, API Gateway, Glue Crawlers, and Athena in application architecture.
- Develop and manage enterprise-level Data Lakes and AWS ETL jobs/data pipelines handling high volumes of data.
- Participate in code reviews ensuring security best practices and clean, efficient code.
- Monitor and optimize application performance for cost, security, and reliability.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues and challenges.
- Adhere to standards, best practices, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Work closely with product managers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to refine requirements and deliver solutions.
Certifications:
- 8-10 years of software development experience with strong proficiency in Java, J2EE, Java Spring framework, and Hibernate technology.
- At least 5 years of experience with AWS services including VPC, EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, API Gateway, Glue Crawlers, and Athena.
- Experience in modernizing legacy applications through refactoring, migration, and cloud-native development.
- Proven knowledge of transactional and RDBMS databases and strategies for database modernization.
- Experience with Dev Ops practices and automation tools.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum Framework environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
Certifications:
- Experience with data analytics and business intelligence tools such as Power BI or AWS Quick Sight.
- Experience creating AWS ETL jobs and managing high-volume data pipelines.
- AWS Certification.
- Experience working in state government environments.
- All work must be completed on-site at the client's discretion.
- Absences greater than two weeks require prior approval and contact information must be provided.
- Compliance with client policies regarding subcontracting and outsourcing is mandatory.
- Adherence to client's compensation and overtime payment policies is required.
- Assignment duration from August 17, 2026, to August 17, 2027.
- Work schedule details to be determined by client; on-site presence expected.
