Service Now Developer / Architect
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid/On-Site) -- Due to the nature of this work, some on-site presence will be required in Washington, DC.
Only applicants within commuting distance to Washington, DC will be accepted.
Clearance: Top Secret required. Candidates who are uncleared or hold an active Secret clearance are encouraged to apply — Improvix is willing to sponsor a clearance or support an upgrade to Top Secret for the right candidate.

About the Role
Improvix Technologies is hiring Service Now talent across development and architecture levels to support a growing federal program. We're looking for people who can design, build, and optimize Service Now solutions across ITSM, Service Catalog, and custom applications, and who are comfortable working directly with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions. Depending on experience, candidates may be considered for a developer or architect-level role.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy Service Now configurations, custom applications, and automated workflows
- Build advanced Service Catalog items, including catalog client scripts, UI policies, and Flow Designer automations
- Support ongoing improvements and optimization of core ITSM modules (Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Knowledge Management)
- Design and implement integrations with third-party systems using REST/SOAP web services and Integration Hub
- Participate in client calls and technical design discussions, translating business requirements into clear, actionable solutions
- Execute unit, integration, and regression testing to ensure high-quality, zero-defect deployments
- Maintain update sets, release documentation, and technical design records
- Mentor developers and promote Service Now best practices across the team (architect-level)
- Oversee release management, peer reviews, and governance/compliance checks (architect-level)
- Identify risks, dependencies, and design gaps early in the development lifecycle
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience developing and configuring on the Service Now platform (5+ years for Developer; 8+ years including lead or architect-level experience for Architect)
- Service Now Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- At least one Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certification — ITSM preferred
- Experience building Service Catalog items, workflows, and integrations
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development environments
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work across technical and functional teams
- Active Top Secret clearance, or willingness to be sponsored/upgraded to Top Secret
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in federal or defense contracting environments
- Experience with release coordination, version control, and automated testing strategies
- Hands-on proficiency with the Service Now Automated Test Framework (ATF)
- For senior/architect candidates: experience mentoring developers and representing technical solutions in client-facing discussions
