- Own the database layer of a federal agency’s enterprise data platform
- Design physical database structures, including partitioning, indexing, and storage layout at scale
- Tune queries and execution plans on large datasets
- Develop durable logical and physical data models
- Build and maintain schema migrations
- Implement S3 load patterns into relational and Apache Iceberg stores
- Develop stored procedures
- Establish governed access using Apache Ranger access controls
- Contribute over time to new capabilities, tools, and lines of business
- Collaborate with developers, engineers, data scientists, architects, and strategists on complex client problems
- 7+ years of database development and administration experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Sole United States citizenship
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust determination
- Hands-on experience with Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible), DynamoDB, and S3 with Apache Iceberg tables
- Physical design at scale: partitioning, indexing, and storage layout
- Query and EXPLAIN-plan tuning on large datasets
- Logical and physical data modeling
- PL/pgSQL stored procedures
- S3 load patterns into relational and Iceberg stores
- Basic proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Preferred:
Schema migration tooling, including AWS Schema Conversion Tool - Preferred:
Apache Ranger access controls - Preferred:
Neptune or Neo4j - Preferred:
Federal information technology or high-volume transaction experience - Preferred:
Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tooling
Demonstrates extensive experience in database development and administration, focusing on physical design, query tuning, and data modeling. Proficient in implementing and managing data access controls and schema migrations within enterprise data platforms.
