Senior Java Developer

This is a contract position for a Senior Java Developer based in Washington, District of Columbia, with an anticipated duration of 6 months. You will design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise Java applications using Spring technologies while supporting the broader technology ecosystem for the organization.

• Design, develop, test, and deploy applications and systems using Java technologies across development, QA, and production environments.
• Write clean, scalable code; refactor and debug code to improve existing Java applications and systems.
• Ensure technologies align with current, stable, and compliant enterprise architecture and standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams to produce software design and architecture.
• Develop documentation throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Proactively monitor and report on performance utilization of assigned technologies.
• Troubleshoot software and hardware issues and failures.
• Manage escalated tickets, tasks, and out-of-cycle requests from systems and software owners.
• Provide consultative expertise to stakeholders on optimal system usage and implementation approaches.
• Identify and communicate complex issues across multiple integrated technologies.
• Provide technical support and knowledge to relevant personnel and stakeholders.
• Support design for applications requiring integration with statewide systems.
• Coordinate with other application developers as needed.
• Function as a technical subject matter expert in relevant specialties.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Required
  • 10+ years of experience with core Java development and strong back-end development.
  • 5+ years of experience with Java (Annotations, Generics, Reflection, Inheritance, OO Design, NIO, Bean Validation).
  • 3+ years of Spring Boot application development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with Spring (Java Config, Dependency Injection, Autowiring concepts).
  • 3+ years of Spring Integration development experience.
  • 3+ years of Spring Web Services development experience.
  • 3+ years of synchronous and asynchronous programming experience (Callbacks, Future, Timeout, and Error Handling).
  • 3+ years of Maven project build experience.
  • 3+ years of Git version control repository experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with application servers (Tomcat, Jetty, or Undertow).
  • 3+ years of experience working in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with JIRA issue tracking.
  • 16+ years of experience preparing complex technical documentation.
  • 16+ years of experience conveying technical and functional concepts for a specific technical specialty.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Preferred
  • 1+ year of Red Hat Open Shift container-based application development and deployment experience.
  • 1+ year of experience working with mainframe CICS containers and channels using JCA connectors.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Development practices.
