An established Intellectual Property practice is seeking a registered Patent Agent in Washington, DC. The role involves patent work for clients developing advanced software and AI technologies, including natural language processing, machine learning, and large language models
.
- Draft U.S. patent applications and prosecute them before the USPTO.
- Work with inventors to understand new technologies and develop effective claim strategies.
- Prepare Office Action responses and help clients make prosecution decisions.
- Contribute to patent opinions and client counseling.
- Provide technical support on litigation and other patent matters.
You will work alongside patent professionals with technical and industry experience on matters for both established companies and emerging businesses.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- USPTO registration and prior patent prosecution experience.
- Professional experience in AI, machine learning, large language models, or software.
Experience with
natural language processing is especially valuable. - An advanced degree in Computer Science is strongly preferred.
The expected base salary range is $140,000–$200,000
, depending on patent prosecution experience, technical credentials, qualifications, and overall fit.
