Location: Washington, DC (Union Station) |
Compensation: $19-21 hourly |
Schedule: 9am-7pm (up to 50 hours per week; days vary based on needs of operation)

Dispatcher/Bus Backer (Full‑time)

Bus Company Holdings US, LLC (dba Coach USA), a motorcoach transportation company, is seeking a full‑time Dispatcher/Bus Backer for Union Station in Washington, DC. The incumbent reports to the General Manager and is responsible for ensuring on‑time departures and arrivals, maintaining communication between drivers, passengers, and station personnel, assisting drivers with safe maneuvering of motor coaches in tight spaces, and supporting safe positioning of buses, traffic flow, and overall terminal safety.

Responsibilities
  • Guide drivers when backing buses into bays or parking areas using hand signals and/or radio communication.
  • Ensure safe movement of buses in congested station areas.
  • Monitor pedestrian and vehicle traffic to prevent accidents.
  • Assist with staging buses for departures and arrivals.
  • Perform basic visual safety checks (lights, doors, clearance).
  • Communicate with drivers regarding lane assignments and timing.
  • Help maintain orderly flow of Coach USA/Dillon’s buses at Union Station.
  • Assist with passenger questions.
  • Load/unload luggage when required.
  • Check tickets when needed and direct passengers to the correct bus.
Qualifications
  • Availability on weekends, holidays, days, and nights; able to work flexible long shifts as needed.
  • Exemplary customer service skills.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Preferred experience in transportation, ground operations, or a similar role.
  • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to give clear directions.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift, and load/unload luggage.
