Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by providing primary medical services at NEWHP clinics in accordance with policies, procedures and regulations of NEWHP’s Board of Directors and administration.

• Treat a mixed patient population across gender, age, ethnicity, and insurance status
• Examine patients to determine general physical condition, perform physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines
• Order or execute various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition
• Analyze reports and findings and diagnose condition
• Prescribe or recommend drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures; order inoculations and vaccinations for patients
• Perform minor surgery
• Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners for specialized treatment
• Advise patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods of disease prevention
• Record and sign off on physical findings, and formulate plan and prognosis in patient’s electronic chart in accordance with established standards
• Report births, deaths, and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities
• Participate in provider staff meetings to develop problem‑solving techniques and acquire team‑building skills; participate in peer reviews, as requested
• Represent NEWHP at conference meetings and continuing education programs
• Participate in clinic QI initiatives, as requested
• Perform other duties as assigned or as needed
• Perform clinical services as directed by the Chief Medical Officer; precept physician assistant students, nurse practitioner students, and other identified students as requested; supervise assigned Physician Assistants; serve as a resource to mid‑level providers in clinic; advocate for mid‑level providers to outside health agencies

  Experience:
  
  Completion of an accredited medical doctor or doctor of osteopathy program required; board certification or board‑eligible in internists/pediatricians, family practice, obstetrics/gynecology required. Family Practice specialty strongly preferred. Previous experience working with underserved populations highly desired. Certification through the Drug Enforcement Agency and valid licensure in Washington State required. BLS certification required.
• Skills: Must be able to secure credentialing through identified agencies (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.). Effective oral and written communication skills required. Computer skills required. EHR experience preferred.

Providers must be able to move around the facility between 11/3 and 2/3 of the day, as well as sit at a workstation or in patient rooms. Using hands occurs over 2/3 of the day, while reaching with arms occurs less than 11/3 of the day. Communicating is required over 2/3 of the day, while climbing, stooping, or crawling is minimal.

Lifting 10 lbs occurs about half the time, while lifting 25 lbs or more occurs only occasionally.
