Career & Technical Education (CTE) Instructor

Automotive, Welding, Machining & Construction Trades

1.0 FTE | 150-Day Instructional Contract + Professional Development Days

Qualifications

* Valid Washington State Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teaching Credential, or eligibility to obtain one through one of the following routes:

* College and University Route

* Business and Industry Route

* Multiple endorsements preferred, including Manufacturing/Machinist, Automotive, Welding, Construction, or other skilled trades.

* Ability and willingness to add endorsements as program needs expand.

* Must pass a Washington State Background and Fingerprint Check.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Develop and implement lesson plans and instructional materials using community resources, industry practices, and alternative approaches to learning to teach students technical and employability skills.

* Provide instruction in one or more of the following areas:
Automotive, Welding, Machining, and Construction Trades.

* Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance; provide timely and meaningful feedback to students.

* Administer and review pre- and post-course surveys and other assessments to evaluate student learning and program effectiveness.

* Supplement instruction through the use of technology, audio-visual aids, auxiliary materials, special programs, and industry-aligned resources.

* Establish and maintain standards of student behavior necessary to ensure a safe, healthy, orderly, and productive learning environment, including strict adherence to safety protocols.

* Supervise students during hands-on, shop-based instruction and enforce all safety rules and procedures.

* Participate in required professional development days, staff meetings, and district initiatives.

* Participate in activities designed to promote professional growth, including industry training and collaboration with colleagues.

Knowledge of

* Principles, theories, practices, methods, and techniques used in curriculum development and classroom instruction.

* Classroom procedures that promote appropriate student conduct, engagement, and motivation for learning.

* Career and Technical Education principles, practices, techniques, and procedures related to Automotive, Welding, Machining, and Construction.

* Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures governing CTE programs and instructional environments.

* Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy when working with students, staff, families, and community partners.

Abilities to

* Select appropriate instructional materials, tools, and processes for students of varying ages, abilities, and skill levels.

* Communicate effectively and respectfully with students regarding their progress, performance, and development.

* Employ observation and classroom management techniques that increase student engagement, task behavior, and safety.

* Maintain current knowledge of CTE practices, industry standards, job-entry requirements, and local employment outlooks in assigned subject areas.

* Interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures clearly and consistently.

* Be flexible, adaptable, and receptive to change as program needs evolve.

* Validate instructional practices with learning division needs, industry standards, and workplace expectations.

* View learners as partners in the learning process and actively solicit student input, thinking, and direction.

Salary & Terms of Employment

* Position:
Certificated, 1.0 FTE

* Contract:

150-day instructional contract plus professional development days, as required by the district

* Salary:
Based on the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)

* Benefits:
Per district policy and negotiated agreements
