Salary: $34.70 per hour/8 hr per day/ 211 days per year

Employment Date: March 2026

Qualifications:
  • Experience working with high-risk student populations including homelessness, truancy, students with trauma, and their families.
  • Have or can obtain clearance from Washington State Patrol and FBI background check.
  • Have or can obtain a first aid/CPR card.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree related to Community Outreach and/or Human Services.
  • Experience in program coordination, administration, or supervision related to educational programs and school security.
Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Possess the ability to assist in creating a safe, inclusive and supporting learning environment.
  • Utilize technology to monitor, assess and support student success and well-being.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborative working relationships with students, parents and staff.
  • Possess effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Commitment to extensive community involvement and outreach.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Develop positive, trusting relationships with students to foster a sense of safety and connection within the school community.
  • Identify students who may be experiencing academic, social or emotional difficulties and refer them to appropriate school-based services.
  • Serve as an informal mentor for students, especially those who may feel disconnected from or marginalized.
  • Encourage positive peer interactions, model respectful behavior and reinforce school wide expectations.
  • Monitor and address student interactions in and around the campus.
  • Serve as a first responder to peer conflicts, using restorative practices and mediation techniques to de-escalate situations.
  • Participate when needed as a member of the Level 1 Behavioral Threat Assessment Team, contribute observations, insights, and recommendations.
  • Identify students who display signs of distress or behavioral escalation and collaborate with school staff to provide appropriate interventions, including but not limited to referrals to school counselors, social workers or psychologists.
  • Document student observations, interventions, and referrals following school policies and procedures.
  • Assist school staff in coordinating re-entry plans for students returning to school after mental health-related absences or crises.
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the school day, proactively addressing safety concerns and potential disruptions by patrolling grounds, controlling access, responding to emergencies, and enforcing campus rules.
  • Respond swiftly to emergencies, ensuring the physical and emotional safety of students and staff.
  • Enforce school safety protocol, including monitoring building access, conducting perimeter check and ensuring student compliance with school rules.
  • Serve as an integral member of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support team for Attendance, Academics and Behavior.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness drills (e.g. lockdowns, evacuations) and ensure students and staff understand response procedures.
  • Provide real-time crisis intervention during incidents such as fights, medical emergencies, and unauthorized visits.
  • Monitors students within a variety of school environments, such as restrooms, hallways, cafeteria, parking lots, etc., for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of all students and staff.
  • Utilize technology to access information and generate clear and comprehensive reports for administrators.
