Overview

Sunfield Farm and Waldorf School is seeking a grades class teacher for the  school year.

This is a full-time, salaried position. The base salary is $44,000 plus increments for education and experience, with a starting salary range from $44,000 to $65,000. Benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance. Teaching staff receive annual PTO, including wellness days and vacation aligned with the academic calendar, and summer time off; they are eligible for 100% tuition remission for dependent children;

and receive an annual professional development allocation and various opportunities.

Sunfield is located on 81 acres on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. Our farm is certified Biodynamic through Demeter USA. Sunfield maintains a full-time dedicated farm education teacher, ensuring the farm and land are an integral part of all student experiences. In addition to farm education, our grades subject curriculum includes Spanish, handwork, outdoor skills and movement, middle school choir and cyber civics, and more.

• Waldorf teaching certificate (or currently enrolled in a Waldorf teacher training program)
• Commitment to Anthroposophy
• Continued interest in deepening an understanding of Waldorf pedagogy and child development
• Understanding of classroom management and interest in restorative discipline
• 2+ years teaching experience in a grade’s classroom setting
• Bachelor’s degree or similar combination of education and experience
• Interest in ongoing renewal of Waldorf education for the 21st-century
• Commitment to engaging in the work of diversity, equity, inclusion and justice.

Sunfield is one of few Waldorf schools in the nation that is located on a thriving farm, which includes a forest, wetland and agricultural fields. We serve 150 children in preschool through 8th grade with class sizes ranging in size from 10 to 20 students.
