The Pi Program, part of Chimacum School District's Alternative Learning Experience, is rooted in the belief that every student deserves multiple pathways to success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. This position is expected to comply with all Chimacum School District policies, procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable OSPI and state regulations. Instruction & Curriculum
- Provide direct instruction in high school mathematics and science courses aligned with Washington State standards and graduation requirements.
- Design and implement project-based learning (PBL) experiences that integrate math, science, and real-world problem solving.
- Develop interdisciplinary learning opportunities connecting STEM concepts to career pathways and community-based projects.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of Alternative Learning and Open Doors students.
- Deliver instruction consistent with OSPI Alternative Learning regulations, including individualized learning plans and flexible instructional models.
- Serve as a learning plan manager for assigned students, supporting goal setting, academic progress monitoring, and individualized learning plans.
- Maintain consistent student contact as required by Alternative Learning program guidelines.
- Track, document, and report credit accumulation, math/science competency, and student progress.
- Collaborate with counselors, administrators, special education staff, and support services.
- Develop community partnerships that support STEM-based, project-based, and work-based learning opportunities.
- Coordinate learning experiences with district and community partners to support applied math and science learning.
- Support students in accessing career exploration and applied STEM learning experiences.
- Support compliance with Alternative Learning and Open Doors program requirements.
- Maintain accurate student records in accordance with district and OSPI requirements.
- Demonstrate commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.
- Participate in professional learning and required training.
- Attend requested IEP Meetings.
- Plan and deliver engaging math and science instruction connected to real-world applications.
- Provide ongoing case management and student support.
- Maintain student progress documentation and reporting.
- Communicate regularly with students and families.
- Participate in program development and collaboration.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervising principal.

With plenty of family and school support, an individual learning plan can be developed which will allow the student to make the most of his or her talents, allowing them to become strong students and successful people. Instead of doing all the work on campus, they do much of it e Pi classes are held at off-campus locations.
Pi is an Alternative Learning Environment (ALE) program, and is subject to compliance with state laws and regulations.
