Where First School Memories Begin
Kindergarten is one of the first places students learn what school feels like.
At Lake Spokane Elementary, that starts with the small things. A cubby that becomes familiar. A carpet spot that feels like theirs. A teacher who helps them try again when the scissors are tricky, the letters are backwards, or the day feels big. This 1.0 FTE continuing kindergarten position is for an educator who understands that early learning takes patience, structure, joy, creativity, and a steady belief that each student will succeed.
In Nine Mile Falls, positive relationships are foundational to our success, and we are each other's best resource. The teacher selected for this position will join an elementary team that works together, supports families, reflects on practice, and plans with care. This role is about helping young learners build confidence in the small but important moments of kindergarten: learning a routine, trying a new skill, making a friend, asking a question, and discovering that school can be a safe and joyful place to grow.
Terms of Employment and Salary:
As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of Nine Mile Falls Education Association (NMEA) and the Policies and Procedures of Nine Mile Falls School District. CBAs and Salary Schedules can be reviewed from the For Employee page of the Nine Mile Falls School District website . Nine Mile Falls policies and Procedures can be accessed online under the Our District page.
The annual base salary range for this position is $55,870-$107,239. Salary placement is outlined in the Nine Mile Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement and is based on education, including degree and eligible credits/clock hours, and verified experience. Salary will be prorated based on FTE and assignment.
Each employee shall accumulate twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed for less than a full term shall be entitled to a prorated part of the sick leave allowance. Each employee shall earn three (3) annual leave days per year. Employees with less than 1.0 FTE will receive a prorated share of annual leave based on their FTE.
Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over the school year are eligible for retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.
Nature and Scope of Job
The current assignment is teaching kindergarten at Lake Spokane Elementary. This position supports young learners as they build early academic skills, practice classroom routines, develop independence, and begin to understand how to learn with others in a school setting.
The teacher will plan instruction using district curriculum, state standards, assessment information, and professional judgment. This role includes maintaining a safe and steady classroom environment, communicating with families, and working closely with colleagues, specialists, support staff, and building administration to support each student's start in school.
