Contract Details: This posting is for one (1), non-continuing, 0.5 FTE certificated CTE teacher with an endorsement Fire Science, v-code 430203 Fire Service. This assignment begins August, 26, 2026 and ends June 12, 2027. The end date may be extended due to weather or emergency closures. Benefits and retirement eligibility will be determined upon hire. This position requires on-site work, working remotely is not an option.

Any anticipated overtime requires prior approval and this position does not accrue comp-time.

For this position, there are minimum qualifications for this assignment in addition to teaching requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Washington State Firefighter I (Firefighter II preferred).
  • Washington State EMT certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of recent (within the last three years) fire service experience.
  • Ability to pass district background requirements for working with minors.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and fire department personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fire Instructor I certification.
  • Fire Instructor II certification.
  • Previous experience teaching, coaching, mentoring, or training youth.
  • Experience delivering classroom and hands-on instruction.
  • Experience with CTE, Skills Center, Explorer, Cadet, or Junior Firefighter programs.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Education, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Experience with curriculum development and lesson planning.

Duties
  • Deliver classroom and hands-on fire service instruction.
  • Coordinate training evolutions and field activities.
  • Maintain student attendance, records, and grades.
  • Ensure compliance with district and school district policies.
  • Coordinate guest instructors and field trips.
  • Manage equipment and training resources.
  • Serve as a liaison between Granite Falls Fire and Granite Falls School District.
  • Promote the program within the community.
Work Location: Granite Falls Fire Station or Granite Falls High School
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday
Work Hours: 7:00 to 10:45 am, 3.75 hours daily
Wage/Step Range based on annual 1.0 FTE: $76,699 to $144,971

GENERAL

SUMMARY:

TEACHER -
The responsibilities of this position are to establish, plan, develop and prepare learning objectives and standards for assigned academic and enrichment subject areas and grade levels, to teach and instruct students, to promote student achievement, to provide guidance, counsel, supervision and discipline to students, and to assess and evaluate student performance and progress to enhance effective learning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • To effectively perform the essential functions of any position with the District, regular attendance is required and expected.
  • Teaches students the skills and attitudes to be successful in a variety of academic and enrichment subject areas, in accordance with state statutes, district policy and adopted curriculum, to help prepare students for lifelong learning and success; demonstrates a variety of skills for acquisition.
  • Creates positive classroom atmosphere to encourage and motivate students to learn essential skills, develop essential attitudes and experience successful learning.
  • Prepares and presents a wide range of academic and enrichment lessons and learning activities; assesses and evaluates student achievement; adapts and modifies techniques and materials for effectiveness as necessary for student progress and success.
  • Plans and prepares well-organized series of learning opportunities and activities; establishes objectives to ensure mastery of district outcomes; writes Individual Educational Plans (IEP's) if assigned in special education; plans means for student accomplishment of objectives; implements lesson plans.
  • Screens and assesses students with differential learning needs; observes students for assessment; adapts programs to meet needs; seeks and recommends special assistance as appropriate.
