Position Overview:

Deer Park Home Link is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Assistant Principal to join our innovative ALE program. This role is integral in supporting students, families, admin, and staff in maintaining a flexible, personalized learning environment. The ideal candidate will hold a valid Washington State Administrative Certification and possess a strong background in alternative learning environments, specifically Parent Partnerships, Career and Technical Education (CTE), school counseling, engaging young learners and their parents, and high school graduation pathways.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Administration:
  • Collaborates with the principal to provide visionary leadership for the Parent Partnership/ALE program, ensuring alignment with state laws and district policies.
  • Assists with day-to-day operations of the program, including support of staff and support for students and families.
  • Oversees and ensures program compliance with ALE regulations, including the student information system, student learning plans, and accountability metrics, etc.
  • Partners with parents and staff to promote student learning
  • Create a school culture that promotes the ongoing improvement of learning and teaching for families, students, and staff.
  • Supports the development and sustainability of the vision and mission of the Deer Park School District and Home Link program.
  • Engages in essential conversations and collaborative processes that support the improvement of the district and the Home Link program.
  • Provides for program safety, including the physical, social-emotional, and intellectual safety of students, families, and staff.
  • Utilizes a variety of data to support the principal in leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of a data-driven plan to support families and students. This includes the support of analyzing and interpreting the data to support school/program improvement efforts.
  • Supports the staff and families in providing a variety of curriculum resources aligned with student learning plans.
  • Supports the principal in ensuring alignment across the system as it relates to student learning plans, family engagement and learning, and student and family support.
  • Actively participates as part of the district administration team to support and further district goals and initiatives.
  • Effectively supervises and evaluates both certificated and classified staff as designated by the principal of Home Link.
  • Manages the fiscal resources, human resources, and staff assignments as directed by the principal of Home Link.
  • Effectively partners, collaborates, and communicates with the Home Link principal, staff, families, and students to support the growth and learning of students.
  • Identifies opportunity and achievement gaps for students and families through analysis of data, develops a plan to address barriers, and implements and monitors a plan to close the gaps.
  • Partners with the Home Link Principal and schedulers in the formation of the enrichment class schedule.
  • Supports Home Link principal and staff in the management of student conduct.
  • Specific duties and responsibilities as they relate to the Home Link program
Staff Support & Development:
  • Supports consultants in their work with students and parents to design personalized learning plans that align with K-12 educational goals and graduation pathways.
  • Supports the vision and implementation of Career and Technical Education (CTE) initiatives to expand student opportunities and readiness for post-secondary paths.
  • Supports programs that will guide families that are new to homeschooling.
  • Knowledgeable of the unique needs of students both in their early years of learning as well as nearing graduation.
  • Familiar with policies, procedures, and laws surrounding Harassment, Intimidation, Bullying (HIB), special education, and student discipline.
Data & Systems Management:
  • Effectively utilizes School Data System (SDS) and ALEx platforms to track attendance, student progress, and compliance.
  • Ensures accurate reporting of student data, including CEDARS course codes and other state reporting requirements.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build strong partnerships with families, community members, and staff to promote a positive and inclusive school culture.
