Job Description
We are recruiting for a Special Education Para educator to serve Ilwaco High School in the Ocean Beach School District for the school year. This position is 32.5 hours per week, school year schedule. Estimated start date August 2026.
Responsibilities- Assist the Special Education Teacher in lesson plan preparation, one‑on‑one and small‑group instruction, classroom management, student observation and assessment, and communication with parents and staff.
- Supervise students.
- Collect data and report student progress; maintain accurate data collection records.
- Provide positive behavior management support consistent with the IEP or IFSP.
- Attend to students’ physical needs, including moving, positioning, and assisting with personal hygiene needs.
- Participate in staff meetings, in‑service programs, workshops, seminars, and parent conferences as a member of the education team.
- Meet regular attendance requirements to support a consistent learning environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED.
- One of the following:
Associate’s Degree OR 48 semester/72 quarter credits from an accredited college or university; OR passing score of 455 on the Para Pro Assessment; OR passing score of 220 on the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment; OR 65% on The Master Teacher, Inc. Para educator Online Training Program. - Preferred:
Experience in a special education classroom setting; knowledge of programs and services for students with disabilities.
- Classroom setting, moving between classrooms to provide services.
- Assist with physical needs of students such as tube feeding, catheterization, changing diapers, toileting.
- Sit, stand, stoop to attend to students’ needs and provide instruction.
- Regular attendance during assigned schedule; travel within ESD 112 region for meetings and trainings.
Hourly range: $21.27 to $26.31 (offers made at the beginning of the range).
