Location: Davenport
Position Overview
6th–12th grade English Language Arts teacher with willingness and ability to teach secondary electives. 0.5 FTE, potential up to 1.0 FTE with secondary endorsement. Beginning in the school year. Secondary endorsement preferred. Primary teaching assignment will be ELA in grades 8‑12.
Responsibilities- Design and implement effective, relevant, and engaging instruction in English Language Arts at the middle and high school levels.
- Share passion for ELA with students.
- Improve state assessment scores and student growth in ELA.
- Use strong instructional strategies, curriculum adaptation, behavior management skills, and formative and summative assessment practices.
- Knowledge of AP courses and willingness to attend AP institutes and trainings.
- Knowledge of college‑in‑high‑school classes/credits and willingness to align ELA courses for college credit.
- Familiarity with Washington State Learning Standards for ELA.
- Communicate effectively with students and parents; facilitate family involvement.
- Be enthusiastic, open‑minded, and flexible in meeting the needs of students, the school, the district, and the community.
- Communicate clearly in both oral and written forms; collaborate with parents and school staff.
- Maintain and submit student records and progress in a timely manner; communicate progress with parents/guardians/caretakers.
- Maintain professionalism as a strong role model; participate in professional development; support department and school‑wide goals.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal or superintendent.
- Multiple endorsement preferred.
- Interest in coaching and serving as a class/club advisor preferred.
- Be a key member of a highly functioning PLC team.
- Willingness or experience teaching over Zoom/Google Meet in a synchronous remote learning environment.
- Valid Washington State teaching certificate with Secondary English/Language Arts and/or other credentials, or ability to obtain.
- Prior successful experience teaching ELA at secondary level desirable.
- Outstanding communication skills.
