Inchelium, WA. Position: ECE Assist/Bus Driver.

Salary: $21.35 - $24.75 per hour.

Location:

Head Start, Nespelem, WA.

Non‑Exempt. Assists one or more early childhood teachers in the education, care, supervision, and instruction of pre‑school‑aged children, in classrooms, common areas, playgrounds, and during transportation at a center dedicated to school readiness goals in children and the community. Maintains and prepares classroom and related environments and materials.

• Requires completion of a GED/High School diploma within 6 months of hire.
• Requires completion of CDA or equivalent in early childhood education within two (2) years of hire with emphasis on pre‑school age children.
• Requires experience working with preschool‑aged children in a play‑oriented learning or equivalent environment.
• Requires reference check when submitting application.

• Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of age‑appropriate early child development applicable for an educational setting.
• Basic knowledge of instruction methods for preschool‑aged children.
• Knowledge of basic clerical and record‑keeping processes.
• Basic knowledge of and skill at using personal computers, games, and other equipment to support play, learning, record information, and send communications.
• Sufficient human‑relation skills to work productively and cooperatively with teachers, students, and parents. Patience when conveying information, sensitivity to the needs of students.
• May require knowledge of native language, culture, and traditions.
• Ability to assist teaching staff with implementation of play‑oriented instructional activities.
• Ability to learn to assess the needs of individual students.
• Ability to conduct informal reading and project circles with individual and small groups of children and assist others with demonstrations of assigned subject matter.
• Ability to relate positively to students in a learning environment to build confidence and recognize socioeconomic and cultural differences among children.
• Ability to balance children’s physical needs, emotional support, and deal with common behavior problems.

Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. Position may be subject to pre‑employment background clearances, which must be maintained throughout employment.

Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre‑employment drug testing. Additionally, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post‑accident drug testing.
