Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary Science Teacher to join our team at Oakville MS/HS. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the wonders of science, foster critical thinking skills, and create a dynamic learning environment. This full-time position requires a commitment to student achievement and the ability to engage students in hands-on learning experiences.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines.
- Foster a classroom environment conducive to learning by utilizing various teaching methods, technologies, and resources.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support their growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and participate in team meetings to enhance the overall educational experience.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance, ensuring compliance with school policies and procedures.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress and any concerns that may arise.
- Supervise students during laboratory experiments, field trips, and other school-related activities to ensure safety and adherence to protocols.
- Contribute to the school community through involvement in extracurricular activities, clubs, or committees related to science education.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification for secondary education in Washington state.
- Strong knowledge of scientific concepts, principles, and laboratory techniques.
- Proven experience in teaching secondary science courses, including but not limited to biology, chemistry, physics, or environmental science (preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools to enhance student learning.
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable classroom environment that supports diverse learners.
- Passion for science and education, with a desire to inspire and motivate students to pursue their interests in the field.
