This is an Ameri Corps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. Napavine Elementary School is located in a rural area of southwest Washington. Our community is situated just off of the interstate between Seattle and Portland. We are proud of our tradition of high academic achievement and graduation rates. Early reading is critical to our students' success.
The member will support students as they develop early reading skills. They will also support family engagement strategies. Want to make a positive difference in your community? Join our team as an Ameri Corps member! We expect to begin rolling review of applications and interviews in late May. Monthly stipend amount: $2,380.
- Support early literacy skills and establish a love for reading among students.
- Tutor students in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
- Support literacy programs in schools, early learning centers, and community‑based settings.
- Recruit volunteer tutors for before and after school programming.
- Refine volunteer recruitment systems.
- Expand volunteer recognition.
- Build community‑based literacy resources that can be shared across schools and programs.
- Promote peer tutoring opportunities.
- Provide additional support for multilingual learners to improve English proficiency.
- Assist with family and community involvement events.
