Description:
This position assists students who may need support with academics and behavior in a small group and/or one-on-one setting as determined by the lead teacher. This position also assists with social/emotional and reading instruction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED, Associate Degree, 2 years of college (transcripts required) or passage of Published Paraprofessional Assessment.
- Proven ability to work with children.
- Proven ability to follow directions and procedures with a minimum of supervision.
- Proven ability to work with a variety of staff members in a positive manner.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, specifically with student records, behavior, or academic concerns.
- Computer skills.
- Ability to follow all district safety rules. First Aid card preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work with students to give extra assistance in reading, math or other areas of need.
- Facilitate remedial programs to assist student learning.
- Give clerical support such as computer work, data collection, running copy machines, or correction of student work.
- Supervise students on the playground and other areas of the school as needed.
- Perform duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent, Principal, Title 1/LAP Teacher, and the student's teacher(s).
- Work with students needing daily living support if needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Employees must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Physical ability to lift 25 pounds to shoulder height.
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
- Ability to effectively manage student transition to a variety of locations (e.g. P.E., recess, buses and lunch) throughout the day.
