Position: Summer Tahoma Program Director - $525/week

SCOPE
Assist the Tahoma Program Director in implementing programming components of Camp Arnold's Tahoma program, working as part of the Tahoma program team. Support counseling staff to provide needed resources. The Tahoma program focuses on fun and adventure, cooperative planning, health improvement, group living, social adjustment, and spiritual enrichment.
GENERAL DUTIES
- Be responsible for the spiritual welfare of the Tahoma staff and campers.
- Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.
- Assist with the clean‑up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.
- Assist with "breakday" duties as assigned.
- Prepare and deliver the Tahoma camp brief at the end of the summer.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Assistant Camp Administrator.
SPECIFIC DUTIES Safety and Supervision
Assume responsibility for the supervision and direction of Tahoma staff.Enforce camp policies and procedures.Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times.Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times.Coordinate and implement all program components relative to the daily schedule in a timely fashion.Weekly Responsibilities
Encourage and support Tahoma staff through prayer and one‑on‑one meetings.Plan weekly time‑off rotation for Tahoma staff.Work with Assistant Tahoma Program Director to plan specific weekly duties.Work with Recreation Director to ensure recreation staff have specific Tahoma assignments well in advance.Oversee registration day duties and medical screening of campers.Work with Assistant Tahoma Program Director and counselors in assignment of camper groups.Plan and/or delegate campfire programs.Lead and/or delegate camper devotionals.Attend and observe small group times of each counselor weekly.Lead and/or delegate daily staff devotion/prayer time.Ensure counselors are prepared and ready for any and all assigned activities.Plan and implement evening activities in conjunction with assistant director and logistician.Assist in night watch duties.Assist in camper discipline and re‑direction when necessary.Ensure the safety of campers and staff on out‑trips through consistent and continual evaluation of campers, staff, and environmental concerns.Instruct campers and staff on the proper use of backpacks, stoves, tents, etc.Assist in the operation of the Challenge Course as assigned by the Assistant Camp Administrator.Follow‑Up & Evaluation
Lead debrief with Tahoma staff at the conclusion of each session. Review with Assistant Camp Administrator contents of debriefing session.Complete staff evaluations at the end of each camp session.Perform inventory of Tahoma program supplies and equipment at the start and finish of summer and each week. Ensure equipment is maintained and in good repair at all times.Lead and/or delegate weekly clean‑up and assignment of duties for following week.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
- Ability to grasp, push, pull objects and reach overhead.
- Ability to operate telephone.
- Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
- Ability to understand written information.
