Substitute Para educator

Woodland Public Schools is seeking a Substitute Para educator. This position varies depending on the job and pays $23.20/hr for para educator substitutes, $24.17/hr for Diverse Support Program para educator substitutes.

The mission of Woodland Public Schools is to ensure that each of our diverse students and graduates achieves literacy and appropriate core competencies and becomes a responsible and compassionate citizen. Substitutes are used as needed for instructional assistants, recess aides, and para educators. This pool is also used for substitute secretaries. Substitutes are required to complete the following Safe School trainings:

  • What Every Employee Must Be Told
  • Discrimination and Sexual Harassment
  • Human Trafficking
  • Homelessness
  • Life-Threatening Allergies
  • Diabetes Awareness
  • Asthma Awareness
  • Blood Pathogen Exposure Prevention

    Mandatory Reporting
  • Bullying:
    Recognition and Response
  • General Ethics in the Workplace

Qualifications include being 18 years or older, having a high school diploma or equivalent, and one of the following: an associate's degree or 72 quarter credits, ETS Para Pro Assessment with a passing score of 455, The Master Teacher Inc. Para educator Online Training Program, or a Para educator 2 Apprenticeship Program. Ability to work and communicate well with staff members, follow prescribed education strategies, independently complete assigned tasks, and assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics is required.

One year of job-related experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred.

Essential duties and responsibilities include providing instruction to students under the supervision of a certified teacher, leading small group instruction, assisting classroom teachers with instructional programs, supervising students, managing required forms and records, and maintaining a harmonious atmosphere by encouraging peaceful resolution of conflicts. Strong self-management skills, self-initiative, and the ability to work with minimum supervision are also required.
