Qualifications
  • Valid degree from an accredited college or university
  • Current Washington State Teaching Certificate with proper endorsements
  • Meet Highly Qualified Designation requirements for areas of core instruction
  • Have or can obtain clearance from Washington State Patrol and FBI background check
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in appropriate endorsement area
  • Three to five years of teaching experience in the appropriate area
  • Multiple areas of endorsement
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Demonstrate effective instruction; facilitate engaged learning; and, can acquire and record quality evidence of learning through multiple types of assessments.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills and computer skills necessary for supporting instruction.
  • Ability to take and follow directions. Must understand and maintain confidentiality.
  • Creative and caring with a commitment to education for all students.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Implement Common Core Standards and prepare students for state testing.
  • Demonstrate constructive and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and work effectively with students, parents and cohorts
Essential Job Functions
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at the location and the time designated.
  • Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.
  • Create and maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for individual interests and learning styles of students.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals by establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and communicating these objectives to students.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy and administrative regulations
  • Maintain good order and discipline in the classroom at all times.
  • Work to establish open lines of communication with administration, fellow teachers, parents, and students.
  • Meet and confer with colleagues, support staff, students, and /or parents on regular basis.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, good work ethic, and demonstrate promptness in work arrival and in accomplishing all tasks.
  • Perform other necessary and reasonable duties as assigned.
