Position: Ocosta - Culinary Arts & Entrepreneurship Instructor (CTE, 1 FTE)
Location: Westport

Ocosta Jr/Sr High School is now accepting applications for a Culinary Arts & Entrepreneurship Instructor (CTE). The position is 1 FTE for the 2026/27 school year
. The classroom instructor creates a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the classroom instructor must work closely with staff, administration, parents, and students. Knowledge/experience with new state assessment requirements and Washington State standards is necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid Washington Career and Technical Education (CTE) certificate in CTE approved Culinary Arts and Business with expertise in the following areas:
    Banking and Finance and Business Procedures.
  • Completion of college-level coursework in business education and/or comparable professional experience for a minimum of three years.
  • Multiple teaching endorsements desirable.
  • Knowledge/experience with Common Core standards and state assessment requirements preferred.
  • Evidence of classroom management skills to provide a productive learning environment.
  • Ability to adapt teaching and methodology, style and materials to individual student needs.
  • Ability to plan instructional programs and effectively teach a widely diverse group of high school students.
  • Knowledge/experience of current trends in curriculum, instruction, and technology and ability to employ multiple instructional strategies.
  • Successful completion of WSP/FBI fingerprint background check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Teach skills and knowledge of Culinary Arts to secondary students utilizing the course of study and appropriate learning activities adopted by the School Site.
  • Provide instruction on menu planning with emphasis on (but not limited to) food and beverage production, recipes, dietary guidelines, nutrition, and presentation.
  • Prepare, instruct, and supervise students with the appropriate and safe use of equipment, safety procedures and sanitation requirements.
  • Develop effective lesson plans that follow state approved Career Technical Education standards and develop and demonstrate Culinary Art skills and concepts using frequent hands‑on activities, models, teacher‑prepared instructional aids, supplies, technology, and lab experiences on and off campus.
  • Provide instruction on restaurant management, customer service, time management, and advertising.
  • Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Adapt Culinary Art materials and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students.
  • Guide students in making Culinary Arts career‑related decisions and provide students with instruction on general employment skills including (but not limited to) communication skills, job retention skills and resume writing.
  • Experience as an entrepreneur, teaching entrepreneurship, or business ownership.
  • Experience working with entrepreneurial mentors.
  • Understanding of entrepreneurship frameworks
    - Lean Startup, Business Model.
  • Able to connect with local entrepreneurship mentors, coaches, and business owners.
  • Able to develop business and entrepreneurial curriculum.
  • Able to lead integration of entrepreneurship skills into all subject matter.
  • Willing to work with community partners inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Other responsibilities, as assigned.
