Job DescriptionWe are recruiting for a Special Education Para educator to serve Dayton Elementary for the school year. This position is 37.5 hours per week on a school‑year schedule. The start date will be August 2026.
As the special education para educator, you will report directly to the Special Education Teacher and support students with disabilities in a variety of school settings. Your key responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Special Education Teacher with lesson‑plan preparation, one‑on‑one and small‑group instruction, classroom management, student observation and assessment, and communication with parents and staff.
- Collecting data and reporting student progress, and maintaining accurate data‑collection records.
- Providing positive behavior‑management support consistent with the IEP or IFSP.
- Assisting students with positioning, moving, and personal hygiene needs (including tube feeding, catheterization, diaper changes, and toileting).
- Supervising students and attending to their physical needs.
- Participating in staff meetings, in‑service programs, workshops, and seminars; attending parent conferences as a member of the education team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Salary: $21.27–$26.31 per hour. Offers are made at the beginning of the range. Regular attendance is required to maintain a consistent, positive learning environment.
Qualifications- Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must meet one of the following educational requirements:
- Associate’s Degree OR
- 48 semester or 72 quarter credits from an accredited college or university OR
- Passing score of 455 on the Para Pro Assessment OR
- Passing score of 220 on the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment OR
- 65% on The Master Teacher, Inc. Para educator Online Training Program
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a special education classroom setting.
- Knowledge of programs and services for students with disabilities.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- Classroom setting, may move between classrooms to provide services.
- Assisting with and attending to the physical needs of students, including moving, positioning, and personal hygiene (tube feeding, catheterization, diaper changes, toileting).
- Sitting, standing, and stooping as needed for instruction.
- Regular attendance during assigned work schedule.
- Travel within ESD 112 region for meetings and trainings.
