Early Childhood Para educator
General Responsibilities Wishram School District is seeking a caring, energetic Para educator to support students in our Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP). This position works closely with teachers to support student learning, social‑emotional development, and a positive classroom environment. While the anticipated assignment is in the ECEAP preschool program, para educators may also assist in other classrooms, supervise students during recess and lunch, and support other educational activities as needed.
The district values strong relationships among students, staff, and families and provides small class sizes so teachers can give individualized attention.
- Support students individually and in small groups
- Assist with classroom activities and routines
- Promote positive behavior and social‑emotional development
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, and other activities
- Support student safety and well‑being
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff
- Participate in required trainings and professional development
- Perform related duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED
- Meet one of the following:
- Associate degree; or
- 48 college semester credits (72 quarter credits); or
- Passing score on the Para Pro Assessment
- Experience working with preschool‑aged children
- Experience in ECEAP, Head Start, childcare, or school settings
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt to changing student and program needs
- Classroom environment
- Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI
$21.16 – $27.54 per hour.
AssignmentApproximately 35 hours per week, school-year position.
