Position

Part‑time appointment in Illustration

Job Description

The Illustration Department of Maryland Institute College of Art invites applications for a part‑time faculty position with a multi‑year renewable contract in a non‑tenure institution beginning Fall 2026. The faculty position will teach a minimum of 3 credits per semester at an art school nationally known for its dedication to teaching excellence, a rigorous liberal arts curriculum and the importance of the fine arts.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate Illustration courses, covering various levels of the program.
  • Be proficient in traditional techniques and maintain a broad understanding of new approaches to illustration.
  • Maintain an active professional practice and contribute significantly to the interdisciplinary mission of the Department and College.
  • Pursue research and/or professional engagements that contribute to the educational mission of the department and college.
Qualifications
  • BFA degree required.
  • Experience teaching Illustration at the college level beyond graduate assistantships is preferred.
  • Knowledge of various aspects of Illustration practice.
  • Successful completion of a full background check.
Conditions of Employment

Salary

Commensurate with experience and college policy.
