Special Education Para educator
Educational Service District 112 is recruiting for a Special Education Para educator to serve Kalama Elementary. This position is 13 hours per week (6.5 hours on Tuesday and 6.5 hours on Thursday), school year schedule.
The full salary range for this position is $21.27 - $26.31 per hour. Offers are made at the beginning of the range. Regular attendance is required to ensure consistency for our students and help support a positive, productive learning environment.

Reporting directly to the Special Education Teacher, the Special Education Para educator is responsible for supporting and assisting students with disabilities in various school settings. The Special Education Para educator, consistent with the individual education plan (IEP) or individual family service plan (IFSP) assists the Special Education Teacher with lesson plan preparation; one-on-one and small group instruction; classroom management; student observation and assessment;
and communication with parents and staff.

Qualifications & Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree (note: if offered a position, official transcripts are required prior to start date) OR
- 48 sem./72 quarter credits from an accredited college or university (note: if offered a position, official transcripts are required prior to start date); OR
- Passing score of 455 on the Para Pro Assessment; OR
- Passing score of 220 on the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment; OR
- 65% on The Master Teacher, Inc. Para educator Online Training Program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a special education classroom setting.
- Knowledge of programs and services for students with disabilities. Working Conditions/Employment Requirements
- Classroom setting, may move from classroom to classroom to provide services.
- Provide assistance and attend to the physical needs of students including moving and positioning students and assisting with personal hygiene needs, including but not limited to: tube feeding, catheterization, changing diapers, toileting.
- Sit, stand, and stoop to attend to student's needs & to provide instruction.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds individually, over 35 pounds with assistance.
- Regular attendance during assigned work schedule.
- Travel within ESD 112 region for meetings and trainings.
- Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
- Within three years of employment meet Washington State Core Competencies for para educators as defined in WAC 392-172A-02090 (f). Notice of Non-Discrimination
