Early Learning Coach or ECEAP Early Learning Coach dependent upon qualifications.

Position Summary:

The Early Learning Coach works directly in classrooms to provide high-quality instructional leadership and support. This role involves modeling evidence-based strategies, coaching staff using reflective practice, and supporting program-level improvement planning. Provide coaching to teaching and support staff; working one-on-one and in groups to improve knowledge and skills that support high quality teaching practices. Assist the ECEAP Leadership Team in identifying goals and making quality improvement plans to achieve goals.

The coach will coordinate closely with Early Achievers and QRIS partners to ensure the highest standards of early childhood education are maintained within the Wahluke School District. Perform classroom and other duties, as a priority, when needed. Perform all assigned duties and responsibilities consistent with state regulations, district policies and procedures and building practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and professional development plan in place to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education within five years from date of hire.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction from supervisor.
  • 3–5 years of successful experience teaching or coaching in early childhood settings, specifically within ECEAP or QRIS contexts.
  • Demonstrated expertise with strength-based coaching models, reflective supervision, and classroom observation tools preferred.
  • Bilingual skills or experience working with families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds is preferred.
  • Current STARS training certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire).
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and tuberculosis (TB) test.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform strengths-based developmentally appropriate coaching to Preschool Instructors and assistants – through on-site observation, modeling, co-teaching, feedback cycles, and action planning.
  • Deliver job-embedded professional development, including small group workshops and in-service STARS training, emphasizing culturally responsive and anti-bias practices. Assist classrooms in implementing curriculum and assessment practices aligned with Washington Early Learning and Development Guidelines, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and Creative Curriculum.
  • Create and monitor classroom quality improvement plans
  • Complete formal & informal classroom observations including scheduled & unscheduled observations, and ECERS-3 classroom assessments in each ECEAP classroom, observing for compliance to licensing standards, ECEAP Performance Standards, and quality teaching practices, data and assessment.
  • Lead sites in preparing for monitoring and continuous improvement cycles within Washington’s Early Achievers Quality Rating & Improvement System (QRIS).
