PreK-12 SCHOOL PRINCIPAL SUMMARY
Partners with the Superintendent in establishing a vision/mission for learning at all levels that aligns with the Skykomish School District’s strategic plan and is widely supported by all constituents. Aides in the development of a school culture and instructional program that supports both student learning and staff professional growth. Effectively optimizes school organization, operation, and resources for a safe and effective learning environment.
Collaborates effectively with the Superintendent and faculty to engage with community members, to respond to diverse community and student interests and needs. Understands, responds to, and influences social, cultural, and legislative contexts.
- Collaboratively develops and implements a shared vision and mission.
- Develops partnerships and resources within and outside of the building to support the school and district’s vision and mission.
- Strong collaborator with district leadership, contributing actionable insights, ideas, and work for the betterment of student outcomes.
- Helps to develop and maintain high performing teams.

- Collaborates in effective risk management practices via design and supervision of school events, to include a program for creating field trips aligned to the instructional program.
- Carries out federal, state, local, and district regulations, policies, and practices.
- Seeks funding opportunities for programs via grants and community resources.
- Knowledge of laws and experience related to special areas and related programs including ASB, IDEA, grants, and others.
- Ability to give clear, accurate, specific feedback.
- Ability to take appropriate steps when employees do not meet performance expectations or engage in misconduct.
- Ability to communicate effectively in large group, small group, and one-on-one settings.
- Exemplary oral, written, and presentation skills; expresses ideas clearly in written work and is an effective public speaker.
