4th or 5th grade classroom teacher. ESL endorsement preferred.
PURPOSE:

• to create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment conducive to learning and social and emotional growth of students
• to motivate and lead students in developing skills, strategies, attitudes and knowledge needed to be successful in their continuing education
• to implement District programs in accordance with state standards with both fidelity and integrity; and to establish positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, staff members, and the greater community.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom culture conducive to learning.
• Sets and maintains standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of instructional goals for class and for individual students.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media and technologies.
• Assess student progress regularly and provides progress reports as needed.
• Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
• Participates in professional growth opportunities and employ reflective practices.
• Provides time for colleague collaboration, including faculty and team meetings, meeting with school administrators, committee meetings, and other meetings as required.
• Provides time to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when requested to do so, within reason; use a variety of communication methods to maintain the home-school connection.
• Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for classroom paraprofessionals and volunteers.
• Maintains student confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned by Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensure in Illinois;
Demonstrated ability for effective instructional delivery and classroom management.
