Duties
SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of this position is to plan, implement, administer, and advise on Education and Training Flight's (ET&F) academic opportunities, tuition assistance program, career and force development programs, and other education and training services and activities provided to military members, retirees, Department of War (DoW) civilian members, and their families. DUTIES:
* Provides individual career, academic, and force development advisement to military personnel of all ranks, their dependents, and/or civilian personnel pursuing undergraduate/graduate, vocational, technical, licensure/certification, and professional development opportunities at various levels.
* Serves as technical expert on a variety of educational programs.
* Provides mass briefings and a variety of outreach and customer services duties.
* Performs a variety of administrative duties related to the educational counseling program. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* Work occasionally requires travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
* Personnel data to which the incumbent has access are controlled by the Privacy Act of 1974 and must be safeguarded appropriately.
* Maybe required to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
* My be required to work other than normal duty hours, which include evenings and weekends. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM)
Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1740, Education Services Series BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: uccessful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the position to be filled in one or a combination of the areas described below.
For guidance counselor positions, a college or university-sponsored practicum in counseling is also required. At least one course must have been from (1) or (2) below.
1. Tests and measurement:
Study of the selection, evaluation, administration, scoring, interpretation, and uses of group and individual aptitude, proficiency, interest, and other tests.
2. Adult education:
Study of the adult as a learner, teaching-learning theories for adults, models and procedures for planning, designing, managing, and evaluating adult learning activities.
3. Educational program administration:
Study of the foundation and methods in organizing for adult and continuing education programs.
4. Curriculum development or design:
Study of the principles and techniques for development of curricula for adult or vocational education programs.
5. Teaching methods:
Study of teaching strategies and learning styles of the adult learner.
6. Guidance and counseling:
Study of the purposes and methods in counseling and guidance, the role of the counselor in various settings, approaches to counseling, and the uses of tests in the counseling situation.
7. Career planning:
Study of career development, learning activities, systems, approaches, program coordination, use of educational and community resources, and vocational counseling systems.
8. Occupational information:
Study of theories of occupational choice and vocational development and their application to the guidance process. Identification and utilization of various types of occupational information and resources.

EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.
