General Responsibilities

Correct, improve and reinforce skills of children with varied disabilities under the direction of the occupational and/or physical therapist. Provide instructional, motivational and other direct services in the classroom to correct, improve and reinforce skills of students with varied disabilities under the direct supervision of the special education teacher and general direction of the Special Education Assistant Director.

Salary:
The full salary range for this position is $21.82 - $26.99 per hour. Offers are made at the beginning of the range. Assignment/

Location:

We are recruiting for a Motor Para educator to serve the Mabton, Goldendale and Bickleton school districts. This position is 37.5 hours per week, school year schedule.

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:

Assist OT/PT to provide appropriate programs to students with disabilities.

Work independently with students as directed by the OT/PT.

Move and position physically impaired students.

Maintain accurate records of student progress and other required duties.

Communicate effectively with supervising therapist, teachers, parents and medical community.

Provide positive behavioral support management.

Apply the elements of effective instruction to assist teaching and learning as developed by the certificated/licensed staff.

Utilize appropriate strategies and techniques to provide instructional support in teaching and learning as developed by the certificated/licensed staff.

Communicate with colleagues, follow instructions, and use problem solving skills to work as an effective member of the instructional team.

Practice ethical and professional standards of conduct, including the requirement of confidentiality.

Other Functions:

Other duties as assigned.

Participate regularly in staff meetings, inservice programs, workshops and seminars.

Provide extended school year (ESY) services to special education students as needed for ESA.

Follow health, safety, and emergency procedures of the school district and ESD 112.

Minimum/Preferred

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED.

Must meet one of the following educational requirements:

Associate's Degree (note: if offered a position, official transcripts are required prior to start date) OR
48 sem./72 quarter credits from an accredited college or university (note: if offered a position, official transcripts are required prior to start date); OR
Passing score of 455 on the Para Pro Assessment; OR
Passing score of 220 on the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment; OR
65% on The Master Teacher, Inc. Para educator Online Training Program.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a special education classroom setting.

Knowledge of programs and services for students with disabilities.

Required to travel.

Required to move and position students with disabilities according to established procedures.

Work assigned schedule during school year and extended school year as necessary.

Travel within ESD 112 region.

Employment Requirements:

Criminal history fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
